A little break down on the visuals and gameplay of the game.
A little break down on the visuals and gameplay of the game.
Here are some screenshots of the visuals of the final version of the game.
1. The Main Menu or Title.
This is a preview of the first screen you'll see when opening the game. Here you'll have various options: from Starting the game right away, on a How to play option, the settings and the credits. You can also access the Achievements section or go to my ko-fi page.
2. A Passage (screen) Example.
This is an example of the exploration and overall look of the game.
Here you can see a bar menu on the left with varios elements such as a Notes section, an inventory list and, just like in the Main menu, you can access the Achievements section. There are also two other menu bar buttons for the settings and for a restart.
On the passage itself, as a header, there's an image that illustrates the place you are in. Moving down, we can find the prose describing what you can see in said place, as well as the things or actions that are interactable within it, represented by links (text on a different color) which are clickable.
And last but not least, we can see at the footer of the passage, the way the navigation system looks and works: each image, if clicked, will take you to the place it illustrates. You can visit this locations as much as you like.
3. Interactable passage.
Here is an example of a passage that is a result of an interaction (clicking on a link). This passage contains two main elements, which are: the image header, illustrating the interaction or the place you are in and the description of said interaction; which also has interactions of its own.
While interacting with the passages, you might trigger audio cues that will further or better describe what the interaction is about.
4. Achievement section/passage.
This screenshot is to provide a visual of this page and what it has.
First, it has the listing of the Endings that you can get, after that there's the listing of the achievements you can obtain while playing the game, there are eleven in total.
There are also two options that separate said lists, one is to take you to the Story and continue were you left off, if you are in an active run.
Then there's the option to take you to the title menu, this option will prompt a dialog window, to make sure you wish to proceed with this option, since, if you do so, all progress of the active run, if you are in one, will reset.
5. Notes and Inventory System.
This is how the passage, that has these systems, looks like. There are the spaces for where the notes and the items descriptions will be, as well as the option to return to the Story (active game run).
When you interact with something or if you encounter something of importance, there is a possibility for a notification to pop up.
Said notification will produce a description of the event or item that you collect in this passage, so that it can be read any time you want. It will also add the name of an item, if collected, to the space dedicated in the left menu bar.
6. Settings.
Here's the preview of how the Settings window look. The settings listed here are as follows:
1. Text font - You can choose between four: Courier New (default), Verdana, OpenDyslexic, and Basis33.
2. Text size - There are three sizes: Small, Medium (default) and Large.
3. Underline links - You can toggle the option to show an underline to the links (default) or not.
4. Master Volume - This is a slider to turn up or down the volume of the audio cues.
Then there are the options to accept the changes or reset to the default settings.
This is a little breakdown on how the game is structured and how it looks and functions.
